Andre Brown, is
a second year player who suffered a torn achilles last year and missed the entire season on the D.L. (and yes, I realize
that D.L. is a baseball term and Go Yankees ). Heading into last season the Giants and
myself thought that Andre Brown could be a viable replacement for Derrick Ward.
I think he can be much better than
Derrick Ward. Andre Brown was a very productive runner for the wolfpack of North Carolina State.Andre has shown that he
is willing to be a hard worker.
Brown was a Parade All-American as a senior at Greenville Rose High School in 2003,
when he was also named North Carolina’s Associated Press Player of the Year. He scored 47 times during his career and
set the state season record with 3,479 yards rushing as a senior, averaging 12.2 yards per attempt to lead the team to the
state Class 4A title.Andre Brown is a very good inside runner and was becoming more and more of a receiving threat his senior
season he had 29 carries for 329 yards and two touchdowns.
A big problem for Brown was that he never had more than
a 175 carries in a season (although he was very productive), and that people questioned his ability as an outside runner,
but I think they didn’t give him enough credit in that area.Andre has a great ability to help out the Giants with one
of their biggest weaknesses out of the backfield, which is a good receiver who can make some plays off the dump off pass.
Brown also provides much needed running back depth that Ware or Johnson did not do last year.
The Giants need to return
to a dominating running game. They believe the ingredients were on the team last year because the only thing they did to
improve the offense was draft an OG Mitch Petrus in the 5th round of this years Draft.
What can Brown do for you?
He could breakout this year and help the Giants get back to a more balanced offense where the run game feeds into the
passing game so Eli can have some effective play action bombs to Hakeem Nicks this season.
